A new tool concept!
In this section, you will find all the help you need to use our exclusive continuous Intraday charting tool.

Owing to its Java-based design and automatic data feed, you can now chart an exchange-traded stock and follow its progress dynamically without updating your screen. Even better, to increase precision, you can choose the most appropriate time-scale: daily, 45 minutes or even 15 minutes.

User manual
To visualise the Intraday chart, simply click on the Intraday button in the full quote. The Intraday chart widow will open. Note: a Java applet can take longer to load than an HTML window, especially if your Internet connection passes through a traditional modem.

You can choose any of three viewing modes: the daily; 45-minute, or 15-minute display.

In all viewing modes:
1. Data table

Under the chart, several figures are displayed in a grey box:
  • Last : corresponds to the last trade price, i.e. paid price.
  • Volume : corresponds to the volume of the last trade (number of shares exchanged)
  • Ask: displayed in green, this is the best sale price - price x volume
  • Bid: displayed in red, this is the best purchase price - price x volume
  • Mouse: price indicated by the cursor when it indicates a point on the chart
  • Close : the previous closing price.
2. Chart
  • The chart is divided into 2 sections : The upper part shows the price trend, the lower section shows volume levels.
  • Horizontal axis: prices and volumes
  • Vertical axis: price and volume values
  • Title and curve: displayed in green if the share is rising (if the last price paid is greater than the previous day’s closing price), and in red if it is falling.
  • Volume: the number of shares exchanged during the period.
  • The dotted horizontal line indicates the previous day’s closing price.
3. Prices

The window that opens when you click on “prices” displays the last 10 trades for the share you are interested in.
The trade times received by the Intraday when last updated by the Swissquote server are shown on bold type.

4. Connection monitor
  • Lower left: the connection icon which connects and disconnects is shown as an animated display so that you can check on your connection and data downloading status.
If the icon is no longer animated, your Java window is blocked. You should close the window and click on the Intraday button again to relaunch the application. (Each re-connection corresponds to a data reload)

Daily Viewing Mode
  • The trading day divided into 5-minute periods.
  • The display is based on the HLOC ( High Low Open Close – see Technical Analysis) principle but the division is per 5-minute section rather than per full day, as in the case of historic analysis.
45-Minute and 15-Minute Viewing Modes
  • In the 45-minute viewing mode the horizontal axis uses 5-minute intervals.
  • In the 15-minute viewing mode the horizontal axis uses 1-minute intervals 1.
  • The chart is composed of two curves (green and red) and positions all paid prices for the share in question within a period of at least 5 minutes or 1 minute depending on the viewing mode.
  • Each paid price is represented by a dot with the corresponding volume in the lower section.
  • If the dot is positioned on the green curve, the trade was made at the Ask price, i.e. the lowest sale price asked for by the seller.
  • If the dot is positioned on the red curve, the trade was made at the Bid price, i.e. the highest price bid for the shares by the buyer.
  • The grey curve represents the trades for which we do not have specific information.
